Original Source: Royal Enfield Reshuffles the Company's Structure from BikeAdvice.in Royal Enfield, maker of the iconic ‘Bullet’ motorcycle has decided to restructure the structure as part of its new strategy. The company is now facing stiff competition in the Indian sub continent following the fierce competition from Harley Davidson and few other Japanese sport bike makers.
“Part of my excitement is to reinvent one of the oldest motorcycle manufacturers as a modern automotive company,” said Mr. Padmanabhan , Chief Executive of Royal Enfield. He then added, “It is a flat structure with four key people in the team, including me, who will run the company seamlessly.” Mr. Shaji Koshy has taken over as the senior Vice President of the markets division. He was earlier the Vice President of sales and marketing. He is associated with Royal Enfield for the past five years. The next new entry to the team is Mr. Natarajan Krishnan, the architect Unit Construction Engine commonly referred to as the UCE which is one of the success for the company in India. He is coming back to the company after a five years tenure with GE. He will be heading the Research & Development team to come up with new motorcycles with heavy displacement. The company is also considering the idea of bringing back the diesel engine motorcycles to India. Mr. Govindarajan is the next in the list. He has worked with Suzlon in China and Pondicherry in India and has also worked with another company owned by JP Morgan. He will be overseeing the purchase, supply chain, manufacturing, addition of capacity segments and the upcoming new plant in Oragadam, Chennai. Regarding all this, Mr. Venki Padmanabhan said, "The new structure means we can move fast; we can be nimble and focus on what the customer wants. We are building the right capability and hiring the right talent.” All this makes us understand one important fact. The company is all set and has decided to compete with global makers. From the customer's point of view, we are beneficial that the company will also expand its product portfolio thereby quenching the thirst of Royal Enfield lovers. That's great indeed.
