Commuter segment is what every single two wheeler manufacturing company is targeting for. The reason is the potentiality out here and above all, to increase the market share of the company this is the only solution that the company will be left with at the end of the day.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has also planned for one such commuter bike with  a displacement of 100 cc. We've reported about it in BikeAdvice sometime back as soon as the  news was out. But the time of launch and price was undisclosed at that point of time.

Now, the company has revealed the truth that the 100 cc bike will be launched next financial  year and the price of the bike will be around INR 45,000. The bike will be showcased in the Delhi  Auto Expo which will happen on the January of next year.

"We will showcase a 100 cc bike at the Auto Expo in January and launch it next fiscal," HMSI  VP-Sales and Marketing, Mr N. K. Rattan told Business Line.

Apart from this bike, HMSI is also planning to launch a scooter by the end of this fiscal year.  Mr Rattan said that the scooter will be 100 per cent localised, though product development will take place in Japan. This reveals the fact that this scooter will be one which will ideally suit the Indian market and the since the company is already a dominant player in the scooter segment, this will anyways be a product worth waiting for.

Besides introducing new products to its product line-up, the company is also ramping up its dealership network to strengthen its position and increase its market share in the sub continent. At present, it has 1,220 outlets and plans to add another 300 by next fiscal.

Mahindra 2 wheelers had come up with the Stallio motorcycle sometime ago to concentrate on the commuter segment. This was the only bike from the company apart from 4 scooter models. But, the Stallio was discontinued from being produced owing to a few faulty components in the bike.

The company has now announced its plans to re-launch the model with all necessary changes having been incorporated. "Stallio is expected to be in the market again by November this year," an official of Mahindra Two Wheelers Ltd said.

According to Business Line, 'Launched in 2010, the 110-cc Stallio had run into a speed bump after customers complained about inherent problems in the bike. Subsequently, in February this year, the company announced the suspension of production.

The company had admitted that certain parts of the bike required fine-tuning and adjustment was necessary with respect to a small proportion of the entire product.'When Mahindra 2 Wheelers was forced to abort the production of this particular model, it said "It is a short-term phenomenon and will be sorted out at the earliest."

The company also mentioned that the company is not planning to come up with the launch date of the much anticipated 300 cc bike – Mojo. Everybody is waiting for a long time for this bike as the engine displacement is pretty impressive. At present, the company's concentration is only on bringing the Stallio again to the market.

The company officials also declared yet another important news. According to it, the company is planning to hike the prices of the scooters all across the range. The hike will be observed in another couple of months.

Get Ready For Another Petrol Price Hike

Posted: 07 Sep 2011 08:21 PM PDT

Original Source: Get Ready For Another Petrol Price Hike from BikeAdvice.in

According to Yahoo. PSUs are considering another round of petrol price hike as losses have mounted to Rs.3 per liter of petrol sold as prices of crude have gone on to hit $109.37 a barrel on Monday from an average of $107.24 in August end.

Since its deregulation, Petrol has been rising at the speed of light! Prices have increased many times since last June (when it was deregulated) and the current price at most places is approximately 50% over the price before deregulation. A shocker came in May this year when petrol was hiked by Rs.5 per liter in one of the steepest hikes ever.

The decision about the exact magnitude would be made soon and prices might come into effect this month itself. Ironically, it's not our government or an Indian body which decides the prices of fuel as most people feel it is. They are directly dependent on world crude prices and fluctuate accordingly.

What do you think can the government do to curb this steep climb of Petrol prices?
