The much awaited Bajaj Boxer 150 which was initially referred to as the 'Bharat Bike' is likely to hit the roads next month.  This new bike would play an important role in whooping up the sales figure of Bajaj Auto in the coming years.

The bike already saw a soft launch in the Indian states of Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. This bike will be equipped with a 150cc engine and the primarily targeted for its exclusive rural customers.  Bajaj has focused a lot on performance as the most critical factor in designing this bike. This bike makes the Boxer 150 robust on all parameters which include the engine, suspension and everything to the tyres, seat, chassis and even the headlamp. The Bajaj Boxer 150 is expected by the company to follow the success of Discover 150 and the Discover 150 and the 125cc version of the same bike which made its debut in April.

According to Business Line, "Today, of total Discover sales, the 100cc accounts for 50 per cent with the 125 and 150 taking up the balance. As more commuters move away from the 100cc, it will help Bajaj Auto secure a strong position in the commuter category vis-a-vis Hero Honda."

The price at which this bike will be tagged in gonna be one of the major reasons for its success in India market. Expect it to be launched with a tag price of around INR 40,000.

"It is like a tank on two wheels which will create a new category in this product segment," Mr Bajaj said commenting on the Boxer 150.

The yet to be launched Bajaj Boxer 150 will aid the company to a greater extent in ramping up the new target of attaining 5 million units by October this month. (It is to be noted that this figure includes the 3 wheelers too in its count).

Mr Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director, Bajaj Auto, told Business Line that a large chunk of the additional volumes would be generated from the 150cc Boxer which debuts next month

The company is pretty sure that the sales of its top selling models – Pulsar and Discover will see a Northward trend in the coming days.

Mr Bajaj said the goal of five million units annually marked a remarkable turnaround for a company which had done only 2.2 million units in 2008-09.

He also said, "Our strategy was to create the best opposite to the 100 which was the 150. This huge contrast in the commuter segment worked wonders with a section of buyers moving beyond mileage to power in the Discover 150".

The Pulsar brand of motorcycles from Bajaj alone accounts for a sale of nearly 80,000 units along the length and breadth of the country for the manufacturer.

Mr. Bajaj added, "An upgrade is due by September which is expected to keep the sales momentum going."

This is the interesting part of the interview. It confirms the fact that the next generation Pulsar is expected to storm the Indian roads soon. News worth rejoicing for all the Pulsar fans! So far, all the upgrades and facelifts for Pulsar had only added to its gorgeousness. We expect the same to be in the case of this yet to be launched as well.

Now, it's time for us to wait with our fingers crossed till September to see what change Bajaj is all set to bring in the next generation of Pulsar bikes.

Hero Group Looking for Design and Engineering Experts

Original Source: Hero Group Looking for Design and Engineering Experts from BikeAdvice.in

Greetings! There are a lot of things going around in the motorcycle market from the launch of new bikes to the break of successful joint ventures. When it comes to break up in context of the two wheeler market, the first thing coming to everybody's mind is the Hero Honda joint venture menace.

Hero Honda pulled their ways apart somewhere last year and since then both the companies are only working on building their own brands and revenues. We at Bike Advice are continuously involved in tracking down the story for our readers. As per the latest development in the story, Hero MotoCorp (also known as Hero Honda till they receive the certificate of incorporation) is looking for engineering and design experts in order to develop technology base so that they can retain their top spot in the industry post its separation from Honda .

Though there is a clause in the memorandum of understanding between Hero and Honda that the latter can actually provide technical support to Hero till the end of 2014, Hero group feels like they have to be self dependent so that the company 's fate is not ruined after 2014. Thus the company is taking all the mandatory steps in order to build their brand and protect it. Mr. Ravi Sud, CFO of Hero group said that technology tie ups are brain storming and also a long term process. He said that the company is exploring various avenues and is looking for various tie ups and contracts with foreign firms for engines, transmission and design capabilities. It is clear that Hero is evolving its own technology and trying to produce new bikes on their own without being dependent on any other outsider.

Mr. Sud also said that the companies like Recardo and AVL from UK and Austria are good in engines and for design it would be Europe or Japan. Although he mentioned names of few companies, he did not clarify whether Hero group is in talks with them. News also has it that the company is also looking to hire engineering experts to strengthen their R&D. All in all, Hero group is all set to make their mark and is looking to strengthen the areas they were lacking. We will have to wait and see if Hero can actually make it bigger on their own and roll some new models based on their own technology.

Pulsar 220 & Avenger 220 to be Made Available in all Bajaj Showrooms

The Fastest Indian (Pulsar 220) and the Indian Cruiser (Avenger 220) will now be made available in all Bajaj showrooms across the country. This means that if you are interested in booking either of these bikes (or both of these as well!) you don't have to hunt for the nearest Probiking showroom to get your hands on these machines.

And the best part of this new announcement is that besides selling these machines, servicing of these machines is also made possible. This move from Bajaj is co0nsiudered to be a boon for all the owners of the above mentioned 2 bikes. I know many friends of mine who take their bikes to 50 or 60 kms to get their Pulsar 220s serviced. People who are in rural areas and in smaller towns would be hugely benefitted by this. I was stunned to see P220s in many villages across the states of Tamilnadu and Karnataka. So this is indeed a great move from the manufacturer.

Though there is a common mindset among the owners of these 2 bikes that Pro-biking service centres are far better in many aspects than the ordinary service centres, the fact here is that these the Avenger and the Pulsar 220 involves not much complications in its servicing.

Understanding the fact that Pulsar has always been the lifeline of Bajaj Auto in the aspect of boosting its sales figures, this move, I would say is a right one at the right time.

Probably, this strategic move from Bajaj would also lead to a marginal increase in the sales of the manufacturer. The fastest Indian has now got the freedom to go to any Bajaj service centre.

What have the owners of these bikes gotta say about Bajaj's new step? Are you comfortable wigth servicing your bikes from a non probiking service centre? Leave your voice here
