Greetings! The world of premium bikes seemed to be developing faster than it looked before a couple of years. Premium biking is becoming important part of the society as more and more people plan to take their hands on cruisers and street fighters. Also much to the expectation of the people, many new and old manufacturers are planning to bring new high capacity bikes to the stands as soon as possible.

Now for the news; the British motorcycle manufacturer Triumph who is due to enter India in 2012 seems to be preparing an all new 2012 version of its popular cruiser i.e. the Daytona 675. The Daytona 675 sports a 675cc triple cylinder engine that is capable of producing 124bhp of power and 65Nm of torque. The 2012 version of Daytona 675 was spied by one of the readers of MCN (One of the best known news publications of the world as far as bikes are concerned). Triumph seems to be testing their new 2012 version of Daytona675 and the bike is fairly looking like a much improved version over its 2011 model.

The spy pictures of the bike reveal that every other part of the bike is either modified or changed thus giving the bike a altogether new look. There are lot of changes that are made to the new version of the bike however the exact quantum of change cannot be determined from the pictures but major changes include; a new exhaust in place of the earlier under seat unit; front fairing, headlamps and the rear end of the bike are also changed and lastly the pillion seat and sub frame are also entirely new.

One interesting thing about this new version is the look. The company has not made such changes as regards the look of this bike since its launch in 2006 and this would be the first of its kind revolutionary improvement. Externally the 2012 version of the bike has been changed a lot there is no confirmation as far as the internals of the bike are concerned. All in all, we will have to wait and see if the company makes its way to India in 2012 and rocks our market by its splendid models.

2012 Harley Davidson Models Released

Posted: 31 Jul 2011 09:12 AM PDT

Original Source: 2012 Harley Davidson Models Released from BikeAdvice.in

Harley Davidson is probably one of the most preferred and best premium bike makers in the world. The two wheeler giant has got immense potential to showcase its strengths and build a smarter market for themselves. Recently Harley Davidson has released its 2012 models which includes one all new motorcycle and a 10th anniversary edition of Vanted V-Rod. Not only the introduction of new models was done but the company also announced that more models than ever will be sporting Twin Cam 103 Engine in 2012. Harley Davidson is a company that will continue to improvise its models so that they can bag both in terms of market share and the revenues. For the 2012 line up, Harley introduced some marvels. Let us now roll our eye balls on two key models and what the company has in store for the riders in 2012.

First up on the list of 2012 Harley bikes is Dyna Switchback. The 2012 Switchback is a powerful machine that is based on the lines of CEO Softail Convertible. The bike sports a fork mounted windshield and hard saddlebag pops off without the use of tools and it only takes a minute to convert.

As the name goes Switchback, the bike can be used both as touring motorcycle and a cruiser. The bike sports a powerful Twin cam 103 V-twin engine that gives the bike required power and control.

Next on the list of Harley's 2012 roll out is the anniversary edition of the V-Rod. The V-Rod was first introduced by Harley in the year 2002 and it bought great success to the company. The V-Rod's 60 degree revolutionary V twin was the first by Harley to sport overhead cam shafts and liquid cooling. Since the introduction back in 2002, the bike has gone through various variations like CVO V-Rod destroyer in 2007. The latest variation of the V-Rod uses a 1250cc engine that is capable of producing 125hp @ 8250 rpm. Another news regarding the 2012 Harley's lineup is that the company will be using Twin Cam 103 engine in more models which is able to put out almost 100 lb-ft of torque.

In addition to the above mentioned roll outs, Harley also introduced upgraded version of the Night Rod that sports refreshed bodywork and optimized rider ergonomics. Also the company's custom vehicles operation (CVO) has also rolled out a limited high performing touring machine i.e. the New CVO Road Glide Custom. All in all the company's 2012 roll outs look impressive and the company will offer 32 models in 2012 however we only covered the most significant above.

Hero Honda is Now Hero MotoCorp

Posted: 29 Jul 2011 09:17 AM PDT

Original Source: Hero Honda is Now Hero MotoCorp from BikeAdvice.in

Here's the much awaited news in the Indian 2 wheeler market. I started posting about this news in BikeAdvice and here it now. Hero Honda has finally become Hero MotoCorp. This much anticipated news is now implemented. The company is the largest two wheeler manufacturer in India.

The 2006 Forbes 200 Most Respected companies list had Hero Honda Motors ranked at 108 which enabled the world to know about this great brand. Also, The Brand Trust Report published by Trust Research Advisory has ranked Hero Honda in the 13th position among the brands in India

Hero is the brand name used by the Munjal brothers for their flagship company Hero Cycles Ltd. A joint venture between the Hero Group and Honda Motor Company was established in 1984 as the Hero Honda Motors Limited at Dharuhera, India. Munjal family and Honda group both own 26% stake in the Company. In 2010, it was reported that Honda planned to sell its stake in the venture to the Munjal family.

During the 1980s, the company introduced motorcycles that were popular in India for their fuel economy and low cost. A popular advertising campaign based on the slogan ‘Fill it – Shut it – Forget it’ that emphasised the motorcycle’s fuel efficiency helped the company grow at a double-digit pace since inception. The technology in the bikes of Hero Honda for almost 26 years (1984–2010) has come from the Japanese counterpart Honda.

Hero Honda has three manufacturing facilities based at Dharuhera, Gurgaon in Haryana and at Haridwar in Uttarakhand. These plants together are capable of churning out 3 million bikes per year. Hero Honda has a large sales and service network with over 3,000 dealerships and service points across India. Hero Honda has a customer loyalty program since 2000 called the Hero Honda Passport Program.

In December 2010, the Board of Directors of the Hero Honda Group have decided to terminate the joint venture between Hero Group of India and Honda of Japan in a phased manner. The Hero Group of India would buy out the 26% stake of the Honda in JV Hero Honda. Under the joint venture Hero Group could not sell into international markets and the termination would mean that Hero Group can exploit global opportunities now. Since last 25 years the Hero Group relied on their Japanese partner Honda for R & D for new bike models. So there are concerns that the Hero Group might not be able to sustain the performance of the Joint Venture alone.

When there were rumours that the company depends totally on its Japanese counterpart – Honda for all it's R&D and that the company would face a tough time following the exit, the company proved the concept wrong with a series of upgraded (facelifted actually) bikes making the company to be in the limelight always. The company has bikes right from 100 cc to the 225 cc. The Pleasure scooter is also a decent performing vehicle for the company.

Hero Honda has also come up with a new website which is heromotocorp.com. The URL of the old website automatically redirects you to the new one. Though there is not much difference observed in the layout of the site. However, there is a large sized image displaying Hero Honda is now Hero MotoCorp.

The company is likely to dominate the yet to enter African and a few other new market with this new name. After the split between the two major 2 wheeler manufacturers, there are 2 news that impressed me a lot. One is that the company is planning to come up with a bike in the sub 40k price band. The other one is that Hero Honda (Sorry sorry, Hero MotoCorp) is considering launching a dirt bike in India. Guys, please make it really fast.

We wish the company to come up with a lot of new models and to make a great business in all its new markets.

Regards,
M.Naren.

Honda CBR250R Ownership Review by Sharat Aaryan

Posted: 29 Jul 2011 09:10 AM PDT

Original Source: Honda CBR250R Ownership Review by Sharat Aaryan from BikeAdvice.in

Dear BikeAdvice Readers, here comes the first comprehensive ownership review of the Honda CBR250R on BikeAdvice. I always dreamt of having a bike of my choice right from my early childhood. I was very much into stuff like bikes, cars and all. In other words I loved them to the core.

I started to learn the bike on Pulsar 180 in 2004. That is where my biking history starts. Right from then I have never stopped riding and each day my passion towards bike keeps increasing dramatically.

Booking the CBR250R

The day came when we finally decided after a long research about which bike I should get and finally it was decided its the Honda CBR250R.

It was the end of march when we had decided and booked the bike after considering so many other bikes like the Bullet Classic, Karizma ZMR, Pulsar series and the Ninja.

Delivery

Just like you and every other reader here, this was the worst period of my biking life. 4 long months writing letters after letters, and making calls after calls to the Honda company and the showroom, finally got my CBR250R on 20th of July.

I had booked the bike in Hubli and after listening to the news that I will be getting the bike, I booked my tickets to Hubli never making a second thought about bunking my college despite of low attendance. The day came when I reached showroom to get the bike and it was really a royal treatment in the showroom for me, as I was the 1st customer to be delivered with the ABS built in.

Looks

Lets start of with the most basic aspect any college student would want from his ride. In looks, it has no compromise. Its one of the best looking bikes I have ever seen in this segment.

The body balance right from the head light to the tail grab is superbly done with a great balance making it look like the pearl on the roads.

Performance

This is what makes this bike stand out from all the other bikes. Powered with a 250cc single cylinder engine, whit 26 BHP, it has a superb power which anyone can realize by riding the bike for just for a few meters. I found it very very difficult to keep the speed in control while the bike was in the run-in period.

The throttle response is too sensitive and works amazingly. Not to be shocked, the engine alone has 19 patents out of the 22. And, the engine smoothness is as good as any other Hondas engine, very smooth producing a huge power. And also I was getting a very good average of about 35kmpl even before the 1st service.

Handling

The bike handles like a flower. Though its too heavy, while riding the rider gets the feeling of being flying in the air with its beautiful aero-dynamics and wind path. The wheelbase is one of the largest in this segment, making the bike very stable. I drove the bike on wet, dry and muddy roads and to my surprise the bike never lost its balance even though I was speeding in the wet and dry roads at high speeds.

While I was a little careful on the muddy roads not able to speed, but still it was a lot stable than the while any other bike would have lost its balance while I was doing 20+ kmph on such places.

Price

There are 2 versions of CBR250R available, the standard version and the Combined-ABS mounted variant.. The standard version costs 1.69 laks on road while the ABS model would cost a 30,000 more, 1.99laks. And I personally feel the ABS is really worth the extra penny making your ride more secure and pleasure.

Special Features of Honda CBR250R

The 1st special thing I observed in this bike was the head lamps (55wt Halogen bulb) are extremely powerful any clearly visible. The credit goes to extreme reflective principle used in this bike.

And also to my surprise while on the dip mode, the lights at the left part of your road is more wide and powerful when compared to the right side, making it very pleasant for the vehicles coming from the opposite direction.

The next interesting thing about this bike is, the speedometer is not connected to the front wheel. Its connected to the ECU and then to the engine and then to the rear wheel making it completely controllable during any emergency breaking.

The dash board looks too good and the clear wing like structure gives it a “flying” like feel while riding the bike. And when you switch on the engine, the RPM needle goes to the max and returns and the digital speedo starts the reverse countdown from 188, making sure the digital display is working correctly.. The engine sensors makes a quick check if there is any fault and makes the bike ready to start the engine.

Braking

The C-ABS system gives a 50% breaking pressure on the front wheel when the rear breaks are applied. Overall the ABS system is great. I applied the breaks so hard while riding at 70KMPH and I was amazed by the stopping distance.

Cons of CBR250R

  • The plastic parts used are not of the Honda's standards and the finishing of the frame and all looks a bit sloppy.
  • A real long waiting period.
  • While riding on wet roads, be sure to have an extra set of shoes and pants as the shoes and the pants become dirty by the water spilling over them.

Conclusion

Overall I am very satisfied with my CBR250R. I love it so much and will continue to do so. It may seem a little expensive at first but just have a look at the market – with some research you will find out that CBR250R is worth the money.

As with all Honda products, it will have excellent resale value and your investment will be justified.

Leave your comments on my review!

Ride safe, ride happy :)

Hero Honda to Reveal new Brand Identity on Aug 9 in London

Posted: 28 Jul 2011 12:01 AM PDT

Original Source: Hero Honda to Reveal new Brand Identity on Aug 9 in London from BikeAdvice.in

Hero Honda's split which led to the exiting of Munjal's Hero Group and Japanese major Honda was one of the major topic of discussion among all bikers. Then, there were a lot of facelifts in almost all the Hero Honda bikes gave Indians a feel that the Hero group is not gonna calm down on its sales performance. Then the new name of 'HeroMoto' was a talk from the company's side.

Now, the Indian major when it comes to the number of bikes manufactured every year has announced that it will reveal the company's new brand identity on August 9th, not in India, but in London!

Business Line had reported, "The country's largest two-wheeler maker Hero Honda will reveal its  much-anticipated global brand identity in London on August 9, as it takes the first major step of establishing its new image after going solo following erstwhile Japanese promoter Honda's exit".

The company said, "…as a significant first step towards the company's transformation into a major  global brand, we would be unveiling our new brand name and identity in London on August 9".

In the month of March, Hero Honda had hired global brand and innovation specialist Wolff Olins to create its new brand identity. Wolff Olins had worked on the areas of brand architecture, name, logo and positioning for Hero Honda in order to reveal its new identity.

A couple of months later the company contracted with Law & Kenneth (L&K) as a creative partner to launch and establish the new brand for the company. The independent brand communications firm was mandated to devise the new brand positioning of the company.

Hero Honda said it will also unfold a slew of strategic initiatives "which will allow us to further consolidate our leadership in India and also enter emerging markets globally."

This revealing of the new brand identity would essentially let the world know the new brand name of Hero Honda after the exit from its Japanese counterpart. The ceremony in London would also reveal the world know the presence of such a company, which is essential for a company like Hero Honda which is concentrating a lot on the global strategies.

Hero Group and Honda had signed a new licensing agreement in March, under which the Indian firm will pay its Japanese counterpart ¥ 45 bn (approx INR 2,450 crore) till the year 2014.

What do you think about the yet to be revealed global identity of Hero Honda. Will it hold the key to the company's future? Drop your comments below.

Top Speed of 502 kmph Attained in a Bike

Posted: 27 Jul 2011 11:34 PM PDT

Original Source: Top Speed of 502 kmph Attained in a Bike from BikeAdvice.in

Attaining maximum speed in our bikes we own is always a thrill. Ever crossed 200 kmph mark in your bike? A serious Speedthrift (This is the word coined by me personally!) can cross 300 kmph with Hayabusa. Which is claimed to be the fastest bike on Planet Earth and there gets restricted our speed.

The previous speed record that a man has ever touched in a sit up motorcycle is 278.6 mph which is 448.33 kmph. Though higher speed records are set on clos3eed motorcycles, the above mentioned speed was the record for a long time.

Watch this video here to see the speed record being performed. The speedo dials are not covered in camera to visually see the speed, but turn on your speakers and listen to the voice towards the end of the video, which confirms the fact that a record has been set.

Now, Bill Warner from Florida has set a new record in his modified Suzuki Hayabusa of 311.945 mph. This means that he has crossed 500 kmph mark. The speed he has crossed in terms of kmph is approximately 302. Though the bike in not closed for better aerodynamics, the speed touched is really mind-blowing.

A small note to be mentioned here is that it was the same man (Bill Warner) who set the previous record of 448.33 kmph.

Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4, 2009

 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4, 2009

The new Gallardo LP560-4, Lamborghini once again sets a higher standard for super sports cars. With its new engine, permanent four-wheel drive transmission and new suspension, it delivers clearly improved performance and dynamics. In parallel, its innovative design takes the classic lines unique to the Lamborghini brand one step further. Powerful elegance has never been so defined before.

The Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 is the successor of the most successful Lamborghini model of all time. Approximately 7100 Gallardo models have left the Sant'Agata Bolognese production plant since its launch in 2003. "The LP560-4 will consolidate this success story," states Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. "It will outclass its predecessor in every aspect; its dynamics are distinctly breathtaking and its design sets new standards. With the introduction of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4, we will consistently continue Lamborghini's growth strategy".

The powerful heart of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 is the new 5.2 litre V10 engine with an output of 560 PS (412 kW) at 8000 rpm. The increase of 40 PS compared with that of the previous Gallardo, and the approximate 20 kilogram reduction in weight, improves the power weight ratio to 2.5 kilograms per PS (hp) and thus enhances performance. The LP560-4 accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, its speed at 11.8 seconds is 200 km/h and its top speed lies at 325 km/h. At the same time the new, highly efficient engine enthrals its driver with its direct fuel injection system - "Iniezione Diretta Stratificata". Despite its clearly increased power, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions have been reduced by a staggering 18 per cent.

The engineers in the Sant'Agata-based Technical Department have also improved traction, handling and stability at high speeds. The redesigned four-wheel drive transmission, the new suspension and the optimised aerodynamics as well as the reduced weight and decreased friction between the components, all contribute to the overall improvements in the vehicle. Thus the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 presents itself as a cutting edge super sports car also suitable for the race-track. The car is also surprisingly suited to long-distance driving and despite its extreme performance capabilities is easy to control whilst maintaining utmost stability.

The Style - Powerful elegance
A Lamborghini is and always will be a highly efficient athlete. Its extreme sensuality is based upon precision, performance and on spontaneous action. A Lamborghini's elegance is that of stark, purist strength. This DNA of the Lamborghini brand is being continuously developed by the Centro Stile in every new car. Thus the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 displays the precise lines and clean surface edges in its distinctly minimalist design. Ornaments or embellishments of any form are alien to it.

Evolution of form systematically follows the demands of function: the newly designed front of the LP 560-4 squats deeply to the ground which contributes to its aerodynamic efficiency. The enlarged and clearly accentuated cooling intakes meet the demands of augmented engine power thus increasing the air circulation vital to a vehicle as powerful as this. The spoiler, positioned low between the air intakes, improves aerodynamic equilibrium at high speeds.

Characteristic LED - Daytime running light
The new headlights have a characteristic 'daytime' running light integrated beneath the Bi-Xenon lamps: 15 diodes (LED) have been positioned in a Y structure. The same motif appears again in the rear tail-lights. The stop and brake lights have been inspired by the Miura Concept, the Murciélago LP640 and the Reventón and display the Y form three times over.
The completely redesigned rear gives the definition "powerful elegance" a new meaning: rear lights, air cooling vents, bumper and diffuser are arranged in precise positions on the car's exterior, which make the LP560-4 appear extremely wide and bonded to the road surface. In addition, the streamlined covers left and right of the engine hood accentuate the powerful shoulders and lengthened, stretched lines of the new Gallardo.

Clearly improved aerodynamics
The rear diffuser has been newly designed, is more efficient with respect to its predecessor and, together with the smooth underbody, contributes to the excellent steering stability even at extremely high speeds. In sum, the aerodynamic efficiency with regard to output compared to that of its predecessor has been increased by 31 %. The Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 takes fast curves even more supremely.
The designers in Sant'Agata Bolognese have excelled themselves with the clear-cut, pure, stark lines of the Gallardo LP 560-4. They also have demonstrated distinct attention to detail; the elaborate aluminium cap for petrol and motor oil are testimony to this, as is the rear camera which has been integrated in a small fin in the independent rear spoiler as well as the finely-crafted grille in the exhaust pipes.

The body
Weight is undesirable in a sports car and a lightweight model encourages the dynamics of such a vehicle. Aluminium is much lighter than sheet steel and this is why the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 is produced with a body in a much lighter but nevertheless more stiff structure: the two-seater car measures 4.34 metres in length, 1.90 metres in width and a mere 1.16 metres in height. It weighs in dry at 1410 kilograms - which is, effectively, 20 kilograms less that that of the previous Gallardo.

The construction of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 utilises what is known as a 'spaceframe construction method'. Integrally moulded node elements and extruded parts create its frame, and sheet metal plates made out of aluminium have been neatly and securely integrated to form the body. The body is not only extremely light but also torsionally stiff and displays the highest safety characteristics. Thus the basis for the extraordinary handling characteristics of the LP560-4 is formed.

Integrated Pedestrian Protection system
The body of the car also demonstrates extremely high levels of 'passive security'. The Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 fulfils the not yet obligatory European directives regarding the protection of pedestrians. Furthermore, the geometry of the entire front of the car has been optimised with the addition of a special combination of materials behind the front bumper which serve to absorb any impact energy.

The Interior - Luxurious individuality
Despite its low exterior height, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 welcomes its passengers with a spacious interior. The sports seats are covered with either fine leather or Alcantara® (upon request) and provide secure adherence and support. The position of the seats is very low, typical for sportscars. There is space behind the seats for luggage which complements the 110 litre front trunk.
The wide middle console is one of the elements which characterizes the impression of sporty dynamism in the interior. It accommodates the standard Lamborghini multimedia system as well as the air conditioning which can be regulated on both the driver's and passenger's sides. Between both of these elements lies a newly designed module consisting of classically elegant flip switches. Seven round instruments in the cockpit with a new graphic provide the driver with essential engine data and a multifunctional display between the speedometer and revolution counter provides the driver with important information.

Workmanship of the highest quality
The Miura and the other models of the 60s were already characterized by the excellent quality of workmanship which lay far and above the general standards of that time. Lamborghini has continued this tradition and even today delivers automobiles of the highest standards. The Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 indulges with the highest quality, aesthetically pleasing materials. With regard to the leather interior, an array of different colours and stitching (also in contrasting colours) are available. As an optional, Lamborghini can deliver the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 with a further choice of leather and Alcantara® interiors as well as Carbon Fibre Packages. Here, elements such as the air-conditioning surrounds, the control panel, the handbrake handle and the gear-stick surrounds are available in carbon fibre.
Furthermore, the individualisation program, Ad Personam, enables the customer to create any combination of colour and trim, thus creating a highly personalised vehicle. After all, the new Lamborghini should perfectly reflect the owner's lifestyle.

The Engine - Extreme power in every situation
The engine of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 is a completely new development. All that remains of the original V10 is the number of cylinders which, in this performance category, create a perfect and unique synthesis of torque, force of movement, sporty nimbleness, compact size and low weight.
The engine has a 5204 cm3 volumetric displacement which, with 8.000 rpm creates the extreme 560 PS (412 kW). This results in the excellent performance per litre of 107.6 PS/lt. At maximum torque output, the engine yields 540 Newtonmeter at 6.500 rpm. The ample torque curve guarantees outstanding thrust from every engine speed. With an acceleration of 3.7 seconds from 0-100 km/h and a maximum speed of 325 km/h, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 shoots into the orbit of the most extreme and powerful sports cars.

Despite the clearly improved driving performance of this super sports car, Sant'Agata's engineers were nevertheless able to achieve a reduction in fuel consumption and CO2emissions by 18 per cent. Measured by engine power and performance, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 e-gear's average fuel consumption of 13.7 litres per 100 kilometers, is extremely low.

Perfect weight distribution, class-leading dynamics
The engine in this new model lies lengthways in front of the rear axle - hence the model description Longitudinale Posteriore. The concept of the mid - rear engine is unbeatable in sports car production, with the centre of gravity being displaced next to the vertical axis, thus creating the car's exceptional dynamics. Furthermore, it creates the basis for the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4's perfect weight distribution with 43 per cent on the front axle and 57 per cent on the rear. In combination with the permanent four-wheel drive transmission, superior driving stability and road adherence are guaranteed in all situations.

Reduced weight for inspirational torque
The crank case of the new ten cylinder of Lamborghini Gallardo is produced with an aluminium alloy. Separate cylinder liners are not necessary with this technology: instead, the liners, due to their exposure to the hard silicone crystals during the production phase, are bored directly out of the material. The connecting rods are made out of wrought steel and the pistons are produced from an aluminium alloy. The consequent reduction in weight, inertia and in friction losses contributes to the car's inspirational torque.
The engine is unusually wide for a V10, with a cylinder angle of 90 degrees. A definite advantage of this construction is the low centre of gravity. The reduction of the gravity centre height comes also from the dry sump layout of the lubrication system which also guarantees the reliability of the oil supply even during lateral acceleration and on the race-track.

Direct fuel injection improves efficient combustion
The new V10 uses the direct fuel-injection system "Iniezione Diretta Stratificata" as an innovative way to optimize performance results in part-load conditions. Here, the fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber through the laterally positioned injector. Combined with the use of a 'tumble flap' in the intake manifold runners, this solution guarantees an optimized distribution of the gasoline in the combustion chamber (higher gasoline density around the spark plug, leaner mixture close to piston and cylinder liners) and delivers the basis for a highly efficient combustion system even with stoichiometric mean mixture composition. The direct injection boosts the extremely efficient 'full load' performance of the V10, reduces its knock sensitivity and thus enables the very high compression ratio of 12.5:1. The cylinder heads have been optimised to deliver a very quick gas exchange and the variable valve control system on all four camshafts improves the charge efficiency across the entire engine speed range.

Transmission - Superior control four-wheel drive
Such extreme power must be brought onto the streets with extreme reliability. The driver of a Gallardo LP560-4 can thus rely on the four-wheel drive Viscous Traction (VT) system, with the '4' in the model name a reminder of this. Lamborghini already introduced this system with the Diablo VT in 1993 - and for good reason: four actuated wheels achieve more grip than two and permit acceleration earlier in the curve exit.
The protagonist in the transmission is the central viscous-coupling which requires no electronic control. In this special Lamborghini configuration, the driving torque is distributed between front and rear - generally with a 30:70 front to rear ratio and, within milliseconds, adapts to even the slightest variations in road conditions. A mechanical differential on the rear axle provides up to 45% limited slip and an electronic differential lock at the front complete the four-wheel drive system.

Superior traction and handling
Not only does the maximum traction take advantage of the permanent four-wheel drive system, but also the car's clearly superior handling. Each wheel can only transfer a certain amount of torque to the road. As the propulsion power is distributed onto all four wheels through the viscous traction system, more potential for directional control remains - and reserves in every situation distinguish a perfectly made sports car.

Gear change time reduced by 40 per cent
The automated e-gear transmission has been completely redesigned and improved in all aspects. The complete system has not only been reduced in weight, but the time employed to change gears has also been reduced by 40 per cent in "CORSA" mode. The driver may choose between five different driving and changing programs: in addition to the 'normal' mode, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 offers a SPORT programm with its even more rapid gear changing times and increased number of revolutions.

The CORSA program directs the engine to optimum acceleration. It permits a greater slip angle and also allows - with maximum safety - the full dynamism of the LP560-4 to be enjoyed even on a race-track. The 'Thrust Mode' ensures maximum acceleration from neutral while the angle of the throttle valve and the clutch are here optimally adjusted to one another. Finally the Automatic mode: here the engine changes gear in total independence and permits a particularly comfortable mode of driving.

The Suspension - High-tech parts with Lamborghini know-how
Even the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4's predecessor was one of the world's best super sports cars with regard to handling, precision and driving stability. However, the latest model provides an even more intense driving experience: the new suspension improves the car's handling, its driving comfort and its directional stability at high speeds.

The Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4's space frame is uncompromisingly high tech. Its technical production was conceived from motor sport technologies. The double wishbones made out of aluminium with newly designed kinematics, while the springs and shock absorbers are tightly adjusted for grip.

Extreme road adherence
The steering rack works with relatively little assisted steering support, thus bonding the driver closely to the road. This in turn provides him with an intense experience of power and impulse. The steering has its own cooling system for the power steering fluid.

Optional Carbon Ceramic Brake system
The new braking system acts with brute force. At the front, eight 'Brembo specialist' cylinder callipers grasp the 365 mm diameter brake discs. At the rear, four cylinder callipers act on the 356 mm brake discs. In addition, the new disc ventilation system improves the stability in extreme situations. Optionally, discs made out of Carbon Ceramic are offered. At the front the CCB (Carbon Ceramic Brakes) discs measure 380mm in diameter and at the rear 356mm. They deliver much improved performance at a reduced weight. In total, the CCB braking system is lighter in weight that, at the wheel, improves driving dynamics and comfort.

The interior and trim
With the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Lamborghini provides its customers with a generous and sporty standard equipment package. Direct from the production line, a customer will find included in his vehicle passenger and lateral air-bags; a two-zone air-conditioning system with sun regulation; The Lamborghini Multimedia System including an USB connector; and sports seats with an electronically operated backrest. In addition to this, the interior trim includes fine leather and Bi-Xenon headlights with LED daytime running light. The car is supplied with new Apollo wheels as standard.

A large variety of options increases the interior comfort of the vehicle, including a navigation system and a module for TV reception, a hands-free Bluetooth® phone set, an anti-theft device and a rearview camera. A further option is the lifting system control of the front of the vehicle which, at the touch of a button, is raised to enable driving over obstacles. The new polished cross wheel rims 'Cordelia' or the black Y-rims 'Callisto' complete the options range. Finally, the engine hood made from glass creates a showcase for the heart of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4..

Hey readers this is Melroy and over the next couple of minutes I would probably take you through my biking journey.  Hearing Hyosung have started bookings in April 2011 for their bikes made me a bit speculative. I visited Ronit Motors, Mumbai and I was glad to see the GT650R in flesh. The bike looked simply awesome and I was taken over from the moment I saw it.

I was sold out at the moment I saw the bike but when the mighty V-Twin engine roared on the first start up I couldn't resist and paid the booking amount immediately. Later in June 2011, I was glad to hear that my bike has arrived and I could later take delivery of the bike after the registration was completed. I was glad to be one of the first few bikers in Mumbai to purchase this bike.

Engine

The engine is a 650cc 4stroke, Double Overhead Camshaft, Water cooled sporting 4 valve per cylinder engine. The 90 degree V-Twin cylinder produces around 72bhp of power. The performance from the bike is as expected i.e. mind blowing. A slight twist of the throttle and you will be easily doing speeds over 120kmph.The power delivery is smooth and responsive; it will surely bring a smile on your face after every ride.

Transmission

The bike has a 6 speed gearbox sporting a combination of 1Down- 5up gears change. Never while riding has there been a false neutral and thus I can say that the gear shifting process has been accurate and precise.

Frame

The GT has a trellis type twin-spar frame, which offers great riding comfort at all speeds. It has a slim saddle which offers good comfort. The kerb weight of the bike is 215kg which makes it bit heavy to ride at slow speeds.

Suspension and Brakes

It has Upside Down Telescopic forks in the front and Monoshock suspension at the rear. The front offers compression and rebound damping while the rear is preload adjustable. The front brakes are double disc 300mm while rear is single disc 280mm, this kind of braking system brings the bike to a immediate stop without compromising on stability and handling. Tyres offered are Bridgestone Battlax BT56 which are exceptionally good. The front width of the tyre is 120mm wide while that of the rear is 160mm. However both front and back are tubeless radial tyres.

Aesthetics

The GT is definitely eye catching bike and everyone will give a second look to the bike. The ruby red single tone color gets most stares. The vertically stacked lights not only offer good lighting but also give a bit DUCATI 999 like look to it. The thread pattern on the tyres looks meaty enough to tackle any terrain. The huge 17litre tank is massive and the most noticeable part of the bike.

Price

On-road Mumbai cost is 5.51Lacs.

Verdict

Anyone who is looking for more performance should consider looking at the GT650R bike. Initially I was considering the Ninja 650R but it lacked the styling and ergonomics of a Super Sport bike so I didn’t consider it. The GT650R produces most of the power under 9,000rpm so power is easily accessible without having to the rev the bike too high. Even riding the bike at 7,000 rpm, I didn’t feel vibrations from the engine. The Quality level on 2011 GT650R has greatly improved compared to the earlier Comet GT250 sold here. I'm happy with my decision of buying GT650R and also with the services offered from the dealers. All in all, I am very happy with my decision. Here is hoping that my bike delivers what it is meant for i.e. sheer power and style.
