Today, while I was talking to one member from the automobile fraternity, I got to know that Hyosung has slashed prices of its very recently launched 650cc mad horse – GT650N, the naked version of the sports GT650R, by as much as Rs 66,000 flat. I checked out from Garware people here in Pune and found the news was absolutely correct.

  • GT650N was launched at an ex-showroom price of 4.39 lakhs. On road Pune this bike was 4.95 lakhs a few days back
  • After the price reduction, GT650N is available at an on road Pune price of 4.29 lakhs all inclusive!
  • Of late this much reduction was really heard mostly in the 4 wheeler segment.
  • So at the effective price now, you can also gift your younger brother another 150cc bike!
  • This marks an insane 13% reduction in the existing price of the product
  • After this reduction GT650N is more than a lakh (1.07 lakh actually) lesser than GT650R and available at 80% the price of its sports brethren.
  • Before the price cut, GT650N was almost in the range of Ninja650R which definitely would have snatched many customers.
  • But now, at a price difference of almost 75k, and almost 85% of Ninja's cost, GT650N makes a compelling and the most value for money 650cc buy!
  • This discount is applicable to all the 3 colors – black, red and white.
  • According to Garware, Pune, they have all the colors available and you can take your bike off the shelf – "Pay today, delivery tomorrow"
  • By paying an amount of just 1.2 lakh, over a Ninja 250R, you would get a 650cc twin with thunderous power of a 650cc mill.

However, according to Garware people here, this is not a permanent discount and is limited till December 15th 'at least'. 'At least' because I am a little apprehensive about the shortterm-ness of the offer (even Garware seems to be not really confirmed).

I feel this would at least go till they clear their existing stocks. Though, I feel this is exactly the slot where the GT650N deserves its place. At a compellingly close distance with the Ninja and even the GT650R, it is really hard for people to convince themselves to buy this one until one is hard set on this bike.

At an all inclusive price of 4.29 lakhs you get a powerful naked street monster. If you plan to go for something in this segment, this probably seems to be the golden chance – hefty reduction, off the shelf & all colors availability, what else do you expect?

MV Agusta Likely to Foray Into India

If there is one brand of bikes which disturbs my sleep, if there is one brand which I consider is synonymous with track bikes, if there is one brand which I would die to own, if there is one brand which I consider is superior than every other makers across the globe, it has to by my favorite company – MV Agusta.

The company has a great fan base in the Indian sub continent (as long as it has people like me!) All the companies which are the potential threats for MV Agusta across the globe have already marked their presence in the Indian market. MV Agusta should have understood the adage 'Its better late than never. ' Moreover, it's become an untold fact that 'If you wanna be big, you've to be in India.'

MV Agusta in an Italian maker founded in 1945 near Milan in Cascina Costa, Italy. The company was initially started as an aviation company by Count Giovanni Agusta which then got into the bike business. After Count Agusta's death, the company was handed over to his wife and sons, Domenico, Vincenzo, Mario and Corrado. The company built its reputation in the late 50's by coming up with its few of the best Café Racer models in the displacement of 125 to 150 cc. These models made the company popular in the hearts and minds of hardcore biking enthusiasts. It was only in the late 70's that the company forayed into high displacement models.

Few of the competition that MV Agusta will more likely face competition with would be its rival from Italy – Ducati, Aprilla, BMW Motorrad and few other players in this segment.

Mr. Giovanni Castiglioni, CEO of MV Agusta had mentioned in one of his statements that India is a market filled with high potentiality. The company has also expressed its interest in tapping this potential which is shared by many players, off late. The company is concentrating on the premium bike market which will pose huge growth in the coming years.

MV Agusta is on high verge of expanding its market share across the globe. Recently, the Italian maker had forayed into the market s in China, Australia and in some more places. Once, it confirms its plans for the Indian entry, only then the models for India would be let out from the company's side. But, most of its flagship models like the F4 (which is my dream machine), Brutale 920, Brutale 1090, Brutale 675 might all find its way here in less than an year or so. Brutale is recognized all across the world for its beefy looks.

There are more chances that the company will not showcase any of their products in the Delhi Auto Expo, which will see many new models this year. Did I hear you asking me about the pricing? Well, for sure it's not gonna be affordable t most of us. It'll bear a premium price tag so as to compete in the premium segment of mindboggling machines.

How awesome will it be to see MV Agustas on Indian roads zipping past against us? Splendid sight, it would be. Let's wait till it all really happens.

Regards,
M.Naren.

Petrol Might Get Cheaper by 1 Rupee

Original Source: Petrol Might Get Cheaper by 1 Rupee from BikeAdvice.in

In a span of not even a full fortnight, we might breathe another sigh of relief as there are chances of state run oil companies reducing petrol prices in the region of rupee 1 to 1.50 including taxes. This news has been doing rounds on all the major news channels and has been cheered by the common man, since it would be the second time he would be able to save a wee bit more in his monthly expenditures.

If everything goes well, the trimming down of prices might go effective from 1st December when generally any change is made effective by the PSUs every fortnight. Combined with the last cut on November 15, if this reduction is brought into effect, a common man would be able to save a hefty amount in between Rs 3.30 to Rs 4 for every liter within a fortnight. Adding to my previous savings of approx Rs.100, I would further save Rs.50 per month on my bike. However, for a common man driving his small car with an average of 16 kmpl and an average monthly running of 1000 kms, total combined (combining last reduction as well) savings vis-à-vis the inflated prices till November 15 would be something in the range of Rs.225 per month.

I also expect Shell to follow suit and reduce prices of its petrol. We will keep an eye on the prices and would update you if we get to hear the fairly good news.
