Harley-Davidson India showcased five customized motorcycles from its 2012 line-up at the Delhi Auto Expo, bringing alive its core differentiation that 'no two Harley-Davidsons are the same.' Customization forms an integral element of Harley-Davidson's brand lifestyle and culture, offering owners and enthusiasts an opportunity to create unique machines that truly reflect their individual personalities and sense of style.

"At Harley-Davidson, we are passionate about personalization and self-expression, and are extremely excited to share examples of the kind of customization available across all our motorcycle families. We appreciate each rider's unique style and offer them a range of over 5,000 Genuine Motor Parts and Accessories tailor the form, fit and aesthetics of their motorcycles – creating a special bond between them and their bikes," said Anoop Prakash, Managing Director, Harley-Davidson India.

Each of the five soul stirring motorcycles, designed and accessorized by the Harley-Davidson India team, demonstrate the variety of personalization options available to Harley owners. They were unveiled amidst much cheering from the crowd and members of the Delhi Harley Owners Group, who rode in on their own bikes to demonstrate their support and passion for the brand.

"While the initial adopters of Harley-Davidson in India have started experimenting with their look, sound and feel of their bikes, this is our call to every enthusiast to come forward and design the bike of their dreams," Prakash added.

Harley-Davidson is the global leader in cruising and touring motorcycles and ranks as one of the strongest brands in the world, with motorcycle sales now in more than 70 countries.

Harley-Davidson India commenced operations in August 2009 and appointed the first dealership in July 2010. The Company currently offers 15 models in its motorcycle line-up in India, available through its 7 authorized dealerships.

Here is the list of customized bikes that were put on display

Custom Bobber: Harley-Davidson Super Glide

The Harley-Davidson Super Glide was the first "factory custom" motorcycle when it was originally introduced in 1971. Today's  stock FXDC Dyna Super Glide Custom has been transformed into a new-age 'CUSTOM BOBBER' - representing a modern take on the classic post-World War II bobber movement.

With chrome in all the right places, the purist will love this bike – a bullet headlight, street slammer handlebars, switchblade custom wheels and custom chrome front fork end kit give the machine a dynamic and mean look. Bobbed rear fenders and a large engine guard have also been thrown in to enhance the appeal of the bike.

For those who crave for more, this 'Bobber' has been fitted with a Harley-Davidson Screaming Eagle high performance kit and has been styled with the legendary Willie G. Davidson's signature 'skull' motif through exclusive accessories including derby cover, timer cover, fuel tank, hand grips, foot pegs, and mirrors.

Edge Cut Chopper: Harley-Davidson Street Bob

The stock FXDB Dyna Street Bob, considered a perfect cruiser with serious attitude and a performance to match, has been transformed into an 'EDGE CUT CHOPPER' as an ode to custom choppers of the 1970s.

With heavy use of fine detailed paint work from Harley-Davidson's colour shop – the limited series of 'Devil's Infantry' colour set – orange flames scorch across the deep black body of this motorcycle as skulls on the tank and fenders intimidate anyone that gets in the way.

This customized bike boasts of LED headlights, forward foot controls and side mounted number plates along with Edge Cut hand grips, foot pegs, shifter pegs, brake and clutch lever. Regular spoke wheels have been enhanced with Magnum custom wheels accommodating a much wider 180 section rear tire, adding to the sturdy look and stable riding characteristics of the bike. If that is not enough, a Harley-Davidson Screaming Eagle exhaust with a buckshot shield kit has also been added to the bike to enhance its performance.

Sporting a far darker look with clean lines of chrome breaking the black, this is a motorcycle that is bound to appeal to the bad boy within you.

Big Twin Custom: Harley-Davidson Fatboy

An integral part of the Harley-Davidson Softail family, the big, dark and strong FLSTF Fat Boy has been custom painted and out for a 'BIG-TWIN CUSTOM' look with quintessential Harley-Davidson styling.

All painted parts of this motorcycle have been repainted to provide it a definitive "Turmoil" look enhanced by a distressed brown leather seat. The bike has been fitted with custom chrome narrow beach handlebars, swing arms, and front forks to add to its look.

Harley-Davidson Motor Company's collection of classic decals has also found their way on the bike through handgrips, derby cover, timer cover and horn. The lay back number plate, foot peg, shifter pegs and passenger peg along with tear drop mirrors have been marked with the illustrious crested bar and shield logo of the company.

With a complete styling overhaul, this machine will get the blood rushing in your veins as you embark upon the ride of your life, feeling like a true highway star!

Dark Custom: Harley-Davidson Iron883

The XL883 N Iron 883, known for its minimalistic dark custom styling, has been transformed into the epitome of 'DARK CUSTOM' street motorcycles.

With black being the new chrome, this bike has been mounted with a "Dark Custom" derby cover, timer cover and fuel tank cover along with "Diamond Black" shifter pegs, hand grips and foot pegs pushing this motorcycle deep into the heart of darkness. Furthermore, all painted parts of this bike have been replaced with the Harley-Davidson "Numbers Up" limited series paint job, to adding to the bike's styling.

Fitted with custom straight handle bars, side mounted number plates, LED head lamps, Harley-Davidson Screaming Eagle exhaust with a buckshot shield kit and black anodized air cleaner covers, this black beauty is bound to make heads turn.

So, steel yourself to prowl the streets with this 'DARK CUSTOM' motorcycle.

Retro Machine: Harley-Davidson Forty-Eight

The XL 1200X Forty-Eight has been customized into a 'RETRO MACHINE' that embodies the spirit of Harley-Davidson, with minimalistic styling and tons of attitudes.

Instead of the stock fuel tank, the bike has been mounted with a spectrum metal flake "Big Bass" gold tank which looks stunningly beautiful. The customized Solo Spring Black Leather Seat, side mounted number plates, Harley-Davidson Screaming Eagle exhaust with the buckshot shield kit, and Screaming Eagle heavy breather kit add immensely to the styling and performance quotient of the bike.

Expressing the true leisure riding philosophy that Harley-Davidson is renowned for world over, this brilliantly designed motorcycle sports 'Live to Ride, Ride to Live' decals on a variety of elements including the hand grip, derby cover, timer cover, fuel caps, brake calipers, "Diamond Black" shifter peg and foot pegs.

This motorcycle promises to take you down memory lane with its old school styling – as you cruise through the street with a true blue 'RETRO MACHINE' between your legs.

So, how do you like these customized machines? Aren't they damn unique in some way or the other? I really liked it when I got to see these machines in the Harley – Davidson stall. So, here is your chance to take a look at them. Leave your comments in the form of words below.

Piaggio, the light commercial vehicle manufacturer from Italy has unveiled the iconic brand Vespa at the Auto Expo 2012 today. This is not the first Piaggio is in India. The Top Three Bikes Launched at the Auto Expo 2012

Posted: 05 Jan 2012 08:04 PM PST

Original Source: The Top Three Bikes Launched at the Auto Expo 2012 from BikeAdvice.in

The first day of the Auto Expo 2012 was pretty impressive to a greater extent with most of the major two – wheeler makers unveiling their new products which include both bikes as well as scooters. Here is a small post, taking just three best bikes which were launched yesterday.

Honda CBR150R

Honda has decided to dominate the Indian market soon after the split between Munjals' led Hero group and Japan's Honda group. CBR250R was launched last year and we don't have to say the way it changed the game for Honda.  The company has now launched the lower displacement CBR150R – the lower displacement version of the CBR250R, which is the CBR150R.

Though it was hyped for quite some time, the company had not revealed officially till today about its launch.  I'm right now in the capital city, as many of you guys know covering the expo here. But, I was stunned to see the response from you all in our blog as we posted the pics of this beauty. We were in fact very happy to see this launch live from their stall and that too in the morning itself. All the details we have about this bike have already been shared for you to take a look. The colour schemes of the bike kept on display was an attention grabber today. So, as I post this write – up, I would rank this bike as the best bike which was revealed today.

Royal Enfield ThunderBird 500

Royal Enfield is always the most preferred bike when it comes to hardcore bikers' choice. Though many people rate the Classic series better than the ThunderBird, I'm personally a big fan of the latter right from the day of the launch. I'm also a big time fan of matte black colour. For a guy like me, what more can a company like Royal Enfield offer other than the ThunderBird 500? The bike in the matte black was just stunning. It was amazing guys. This was the first bike there which caught my attention right in the first site.

Let me throw my thoughts apart from my personal attractiveness for this bike. 500 cc bikes from Royal Enfield are not new anyways. There is the Classic series which is doing great business here already. Also, this was just not a mere engine upgrade.  The new ThunderBird 500 boasts an analog-digital combo speedo which looks cool on this bike, without losing its macho looks, which is the highlight here. I mean, RE bikes have to me macho and in fact that's their basic identity. The black engine certainly needs a mention here. Then comes the projector headlamp which makes it an even more ideal cruiser. The LED light are latest add – ons which looks stunningly cool from the rear quarter. Kudos to Royal Enfield for having come up with such a wonderful product without much hypes and noise.

Suzuki Hayate

Suzuki has always been a silent player in the Indian market. Though their foothold on the bike segment is not as good as their grip in scooter segment, they do have good bikes with them and the GS150 is a live proof of it. Understanding the fact that the company has to get into the mass market segment for enhanced sales figures, Suzuki launched its first 110 cc commuter bike named Hayate. The name itself is very different on the first shot which is impressive to an extent. Anyways leave it; we'll not have much of discussion on this aspect. The bike is a bare minimum one which caters the needs of an economical and a fuel – efficient city commuter. The company had no product earlier in the 100 cc segment and this is their first product to step into here. Design wise, it is nothing but more of its 125 cc bike – Slingshot with a mild touch of its 150 cc sibling – The GS150.  Though there is not much to share about this bike interestingly, one has to agree to the fact that compared with the other bikes which were launched today, this was indeed better to a greater extent.
